A two part exhibition with Søren Hüttel and Nanna Lysholt Hansen
"Dear Daughter/Anatomy of the Chthulucene (O'Connell Oh Oh Haraway)"
By Nanna Lysholt Hansen
So,
Now we play.
We are glitter, pink, purple, coral and slime.
This which I am going to tell you reaches into your biology, your genealogy and from there stretches tentacularly and technologically into the cthulhucene, the future we are becoming. Again.
Now
You tell me about the times you were among the little people. The snakey ones. The tentacular ones, The
earth-bound, the gorgons
and we begin to get a feel again.
We are the chthonic ones. The not-yet-finished ongoing abyssal and dreadful ones, generative and destructive
In Dear Daughter/Anatomy of the Chthulucene (2016) Nanna Lysholt Hansen links anatomic descriptions of the clitoris with Donna Haraway's concept of the Chtulucene. The text takes the form of a speech using audio video playback technology and extends to 3D print, clay and slime.
Dear Daughter/Anatomy of the Chthulucene (2016) is a continuation of Dear Daughter/Organic Cyborg Stories (2013) and Dear Daughter/Motherboard Theories of Evolution (2014-2016). A series of performances in where Nanna Lysholt Hansen interweave her own experiences of pregnancy, birth and sexuality with text fragments on technology and the posthuman.
"Days of our lives"
By Søren Hüttel
Ooh, that talk of opportunities
TV breaks and movies
Rang true
Sure rang true
For Curatron #8 Søren Hüttel will present a large colourful installation revolving around the tv-charachter ALF. The installation is an eclectic setup of a video performance, sculptural elements and painting.
ALF has been a character in Hüttel´s works before and represents a certain pre-internet pop nostalgia and this work is a continuation of Hüttel´s endeveaours of recontextualising 80´s TV-series in an artistic context that follows his interests for failure, tackyness and sentimentality.
Curatron #8 was a partnership between Platform Stockholm and Fabrikken - Center for Art and Design. The exhibition was held at Fabrikken but was managed in part by Platform using the Curatron system.
